Has your smile been destroyed by trauma, decay, disease, or an underlying condition like oral cancer? If so, you may be able to restore it to its original function and beauty with full-mouth reconstruction at Berkshire Dental, located in Clive, Iowa. We can help you regain your confidence and independence by rebuilding it using a selection of dental procedures, from dental implants to dentures.

What is full-mouth reconstruction?

Full-mouth reconstruction is the process of completely rebuilding your smile or replacing your teeth in order to restore the function and beauty of your smile. To perform a full-mouth reconstruction, we can use a variety of restorative dental treatment options, including the placement of:

  • Partial and complete dentures

  • Crowns and bridges

  • Veneers

  • Dental implants

We can also perform crown lengthening, root canals, and periodontal treatment to improve the health of your smile.

Is full-mouth reconstruction right for me?

Berkshire Dental may recommend a full-mouth reconstruction if you suffer from issues like:

  • Multiple missing teeth

  • Multiple teeth with failing large fillings

  • Multiple teeth with advanced decay

  • Several broken or cracked teeth

  • Badly worn teeth from grinding

If you have a bad bite that has led to headaches, jaw pain, or muscle pain, you may benefit from full-mouth construction. Full-mouth reconstruction can also help if you’ve lost teeth due to oral cancer.

If you suffer from less severe pain, or your concerns are primarily aesthetic, a smile makeover might be a better fit for you.

What happens during a full-mouth reconstruction consultation?

When you come to Berkshire Dental for a full mouth reconstruction consultation, the practice begins by examining several aspects of your smile, including your:

  • Teeth: We count your cavities and assess their severity. Your team then examines the extent of wear and tear, cracks, and other factors like the condition of any root canals. They also take note of any noticeably short or long teeth.

  • Gums: Next, your team examines your gums, paying particular attention to the health of your deep pockets and checking for periodontal disease and bone density irregularities. If you want us to place artificial teeth in your mouth, particularly with dental implants, you need a healthy gum and bone structure.

  • Jaw and joints: Berkshire Dental also assesses the strength and health of your jaw muscles, temporomandibular joints, and your bite.

  • Aesthetics: Finally, our team considers the aesthetic elements of your smile, such as your gum color and appearance, your lip shape and size, your mouth shape and size, profile, and natural tooth color.

After this examination, your team takes all of the gathered information, including 3D panel digital images of your mouth. Then we design a treatment plan just for you.

If trauma or disease has ravaged your smile, you don’t have to accept a diminished life. Instead, reach out to Berkshire Dental for a full-mouth reconstruction consultation. To schedule an appointment, call us at 515-987-7670.
